One of the most impactful things an athlete (and parent) can do is make a personal visit to a college campus.  More questions can get answered by the in-person experience than any other way.

Plus, you'll also make a lasting impression on college coaches.

Of course, the big goal for athletes is to get an invitation for an "official visit."  However, unofficial visits have huge value.  In this episode, recruiting expert Jon Fugler explains why.

But the core of this episode is Jon's insights into five things you should do when making a campus visit.  You have to go with purpose and follow through on that purpose.

Whether you have a visit coming up or you're making plans to do that this spring or summer, make sure you've got these five things on your radar.

Parent, you have the most critical role in the recruiting process.

That statement may surprise you, but it's absolutely true.  Yes, your athlete has to have the talent and the commitment, but without you, he or she is unlikely to get a scholarship.

So what is the most important thing you can do in your role?

Recruiting expert Jon Fugler digs into that in this episode, leaving you with steps you can take immediately.  You'll be energized and focused as you listen.

Parent, if you'll commit to your role, you'll find that your athlete will excel in a number of ways.  Together, you'll achieve that scholarship dream.

Be encouraged as Jon gives you practical counsel.

Each of these places where recruits are discovered is unique and takes a specific approach.  Learn from Jon how to leverage each one.

Learn how you can start today to work your plan to get discovered in one or more of these places.

What you're feeling right now isn't unusual.

The recruiting journey is a highly emotional one.  Ups and downs are normal and sometimes the downs seem overwhelming.

In this episode, hear about one family's story and the variety of emotions they experienced along the way.  Emotions that you've experienced or ones that you will.

This is a real story about a real family.  The story ended well, but the process was long and challenging.

One thing that recruiting expert Jon Fugler points out is that recruiting is a lot like competing.  You'll feel some of the same emotions.  In fact, maybe all of them.

Jon also encourages you to write to him and share your experience and ask any questions you have.  We're in this together.
