Last week on Episode 241 I asked you and I talked about, Would you be ready if a college coach called you today? I hope you had a chance to listen to Epi 241.  From that podcast it brought up the question of What would you ask when you talk with a coach? What specific questions should you ask?  So, this week's topic covers many specific questions that you can add to your toolbox to be ready and more comfortable to talk with a college coach either face to face or on the phone.  This is a task that the student-athlete has to take on.  The student-athlete needs to read these questions, practice them in the mirror, in the car, and say them out loud to themselves and to their parents.  The student-athlete must write these questions down or type them and have the questions on paper or on their phone.  Have the questions easy to get to when a phone call comes.  In this episode I talk about recording the coach's answers to these questions by taking notes and immediately add the notes to your communication tracking chart on paper, on a spreadsheet or in the Athletic Scholarship 24-Month Recruiting Planner and Journal.  Click below to get more information on this book.

This episode ends the series of 17 questions that have been asked by student-athletes and parents.  These questions are taken from the Recruit-Me 3.0 Athletic Scholarship System, click below for more information on the 3.0 System.  The Recruit-Me 3.0 System is normally only $127, saving you hundreds, even thousands of dollars over a recruiting service.  I have a new End of School Special price of $99 good through May 31, 2021.  Take advantage of this discount to get the summer off to a great start and take advantage of coaches getting more active after COVID stopped visits and communications.

Will you be ready when a college coach calls? Episode 241 ask, If a college coach called you today, would you be ready?  What would you do?

As a parent or student-athlete, you do not want to do all the work to get contacted and then not to be prepared to actually act on the contact.  So if you have made your list of schools, made you videos, been to a showcase or ID camp, done you work on the field or the court or the pool or the mat, you do not want to stall the process because you are not prepared to act on the contact.

Hear how Sutton, my youngest son, reacted and responded when he got his 1st coach contact.  Also, hear how a teammate was preparing for his junior year of high school by getting ready to send his information to coaches, but got pleasantly surprised by the level and number of coaches' contacts he received after a showcase.

Are you ready?!

Doing an interview with Coach Barry Hinson is fun, inspiring and informational.  Coach Hinson has been a high school and college basketball coach for 40 years.  His resume runs from a high school in Tulsa, OK to becoming the head coach at Oral Roberts University, Missouri State University and Southern Illinois University and being on the basketball staff at Kansas University and currently at Oklahoma State University. Barry was at Missouri State University for 9 years and I got to watch him recruit and coach some very fine athletes and coach some very successful teams in Springfield, MO.  Hinson's track record coaching on the court and getting recruits to be successful on the court and in the classroom is exceptional.  Coach Hinson is very passionate and wears his emotions on his sleeve.  As you will find out in this episode, Episode 239, Part 1 of An Interview with Coach Barry Hinson and next week's episode, Episode 240, Part 2, all I had to do was prompt Barry and he covered many, many aspects of recruiting and how to get ready for college.

Listen and find out what Barry has to say about NCAA Rules, how recruiting is a family decision, how to find the right college fit, then we jump to what Coach Hinson watches for when he is watching a game of a recruit.  Stay tuned in for Coach's special additional piece of recruiting advise, too.
