Inspiration can come from anywhere.  I saw a tweet that had a clip of an interview with the host, Ed Mylett, interviewing Sean Casey, a former MLB player and now a host on the MLB Network.  You can find The Ed Mylett Show on your favorite podcast app or on YouTube.  The 1 hour and 6 minute interview is named How to Overcome Rejection & Failure and WIN! w/ Sean Casey & Ed Mylett.  What attracted me to this interview was that @TJHannam10 highlighted a line from the interview that stated "I want to play college baseball, Dad", "They're not coming, Sean..GO ON OFFENSE".  The mention of wanting to play college baseball caught my recruiting eye and when I listened to the first 20-30 minutes of the interview it told a very relatable story for many, many student-athletes in not only baseball, but in any recruiting situation.  This interview gives you, not only recruiting lessons, but life lessons and inspiration.  The shownotes below have a link to the Ed Mylett/Sean Casey interview.  Also, click on the FREE Recruiting Power Pack link and the Recruit-Me.com link to get more free and inexpensive recruiting resources.

The Transfer Portal has been a big change in college athletics.  In the past, a college student-athlete wanted to move from 1 four-year NCAA college to another four-year NCAA college, then that student-athlete would have to sit out 1 year of competitive play before they were eligible to play for the new college.  Now, under a few rules, a college student-athlete can transfer 1 time without having to sit out a year.  On this episode, Episode 348 of The Athletic Scholarship Podcast, you get the history of the Transfer Portal, how it works today, how it effects high school, junior college and even other college student-athletes in the recruiting world.

Welcome to The Athletic Scholarship Podcast.  One of the goals of Recruit Me is to provide as many free and inexpensive recruiting resources to you, the student-athlete or the parents.  Recruit Me wants to save you not only money, but also reduce the time spend and the anxiety you feel.  One of the opportunities I have as a recruiting educator is that I do research to find helpful tools for you.  I can across the Baseball Bluebook on social media and it caught my eye when I saw that the owner is from the Springfield, MO area, which is where I am located.  As I looked through the Baseball Bluebook's social media I found the website, BaseballBluebook.com and there new app.  The new app for Baseball Bluebook is a great, free resource for baseball recruits.  The app can help in any sport though, as it can help you to find colleges by city, by state and by level of play.  When you find a college you can get a link to the school's athletic website, thus helping on baseball or any other sport the college has.

Welcome back to the series of direct looks at the NCAA, NAIA & NJCAA websites.  After the last 2 episodes broke from this series with a year in review episode and a re-introduction to Recruit-Me episode, today's episode is the 8th in the website series.  Today we dive into the NLI or National Letter of Intent.  The NCAA.org covers the optional, but binding National Letter of Intent.  Because the NLI has requirement for athletic financial aid it is only functional for the NCAA Division I and II levels.  The NCAA Division III offers a Celebratory Signing Form to allow Division III commits to have a non-binding option to sign at a signing ceremony. The NAIA division has a non-binding Letter of Intent and the JUCO level has a Letter of Intent or LOI that is binding at the NJCAA level, but not the NCAA or NAIA level.

All of this information comes straight from the NCAA.org, NAIA.org and the NJCAA.org websites.  The purpose of this 'looks inside websites' series is to save you time, money and stress by taking you directly to specific topics on each website.  These websites are great, free recruiting resources for you, but you can waste a lot time by not staying focused.

Here we are in the 7th episode in a series called An Inside Look at the NCAA, NAIA & NJCAA Websites.  Today we get a look at the new Name, Image & Likeness Policy, or NIL.  The NCAA.org, NAIA.org and NJCAA.org each have sections and webpages that introduce and cover the new NIL Policy.  This episode guides you directly to each of the websites pages to help save you time in learning about the NIL Policy.  The new NIL Policy may or may not effect your recruitment.  Doing some research on it can help you decide on how to proceed with this subject for recruiting.  The NCAA.org site says student-athletes can now take advantage of opportunities using your name, image & likeness.  You can work with businesses across industries and staff on your campus as your NIL opportunities are exploring unchartered territory in college sports.  This is an important change that imporves the student-athletes experience.

The first 6 episodes in this series gave you a look into Eligibility Centers, a direct link to Academic Requirements, the Guides for the College-Bound Student-Athlete, the fourth in the series gives you Questions to Ask, the next episode takes you to FAQs and last week's covered What to Know Before You Go.  Go to Recruit-Me.com to hear these past episodes.

Episode 326 is the 1st of a series of looks into highly informational and free recruiting resources.  The NCAA.org, NAIA.org and the NJCAA.org websites are filled with helpful information about each level of play in college, about college preparation and the college experience and recruiting rules, processes and advice.  Recruit-Me an The Athletic Scholarship Podcast could just send you to those websites, but there is so much information you might get paralyzed by all the information.  You might go looking for 1 thing and get off on a totally different subject.

Today's episode dials in on the Eligibility Center information on the NCAA.org, NAIA.org and NJCAA.org websites.  I will walk you through some of the links in each website to get to the targeted Eligibility Center information.

Not only does this episode of The Athletic Scholarship Podcast, episode 325, encourage the high schooler to embrace English classes during the high school career, but it reasons that your English classes can help you to get an athletic scholarship.

I go back in my high school years and tell how my College Prep English class and the teacher helped me to learn to write a research paper for college and how the steps to researching and writing those research papers relate to the steps in your athletic scholarship pursuit.

Listen for:

-the importance of your English education

-the relationship of the step by step process

-how making a decision to use a process is important

-how writing or communicating correctly helps to make a great 1st impression
