Today you get Part 1 of a 2 part interview with an ex-college baseball player and now a member of the Chicago White Sox organization. Shawn Goosenberg finished his summer with the Birmingham Barons, the Double A affiliate of the White Sox. Shawn moved from the Single A Winston-Salem team to the Birmingham team at the end of the season. Shawn was a teammate of my older son Parker at Northwestern University. Shawn and Parker were 2 of 7 recruits to the Wildcats. Shawn played 3 seasons at Northwestern before being drafted in 2021 in the 19th round. Shawn was a 2019 All-Big 10 Freshan Team selection and a 2019 All-Big 10 3rd Team selection. The 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID and Shawn was named 1st Team All-Big 10. He played 2B and Shortstop in college and excelled as 1 of the best hitters in the Big 10 conference.
