Welcome to Episode 360 of The Athletic Scholarship Podcast.  This week's episode, What to Do Your Freshman Year of High School, is the 1st in a 4 part series that gives you items to do each year of your high school career.  There are 2 answers to the question of when to start your recruitment and one is as you enter your freshman year of high school and then if you are already in high school, the answer is today.  Recruit Me likes to start talking to student-athletes and their family as the student-athlete enters his or her high school career.  Because grades, the types of classes you take and your education about recruiting start your freshman year, then you can build a foundation to a strong recruiting campaign.  Listen in to hear the steps you can take your freshman year of high school to get you started and ready for the ever quickening upperclass years of high school.

This week's episode of The Athletic Scholarship Podcast, Episode 358, gives you insight on 4 different social posts that I found.  One of the posts stresses that is 'up to you' to get recruited.  The next post directs you to contact college coaches before you go to ID Camps, Prospect Camps or Tournaments.  Separate yourself from all the other possible recruits.  The 3rd post tells you about the frustration of a coach when student-athletes visit their campus and don't ask questions while on their visit.  And the last post points out that it is an honor that playing a college sport at any level is.

Episode 356 is an Interview with Coach Barry Hinson from Oklahoma State University.  Coach Hinson has been on The Athletic Scholarship Podcast as a guest before, Episodes 239 and 240 as he was on the Oklahoma State Cowboys Men's Basketball staff.  Recently, Coach Hinson moved to be the Associate Athletic Director and OSU's 1st Director of NIL; Name, Image and Likeness.  Barry helps us learn about how NIL has entered the scene in college sports.  He tells how as he learned about NIL it pushed him to start helping the over 500 Cowboy student-athletes on campus. Coach Hinson talks about the big money deals you hear about in the media, but he also highlight how any student-athlete, in college and in high school, can work to make money as they play their sport.

This is episode is a little longer than the normail 15 minutes The Athletic Scholarship Podcast normally covers, but Barry's information about NIL, recruiting and general sports is worth the extra 10 minutes.

Episode 355 of The Athletic Scholarship Podcast is A Review of the Interview with a College Basketball Coach; Randy Stange.  This episode pulls out a few key points of the interview with Coach Randy Stange.  Coach Stange is the Head Basketball Coach at Sterling College in Sterling, KS.  Sterling College is an NAIA level basketball team and Coach Stange just finished his 1st year as the Head Coach.  Coach Stange did an interview for The Athletic Scholarship Podcast, Episodes 352 & 353 and we covered many subjects including Coach Stange's playing and coaching past.  In this week's episode I grab some key points that we were not able to expand on during the interview.  I'll hit on Randy's learning experience from not playing much his freshman year of Junior College and ask you how you will handle that situation.  A point I bring up is how research about the colleges you contact and finally make a decision on needs to be researched and compared to your parameters list of wants and needs for a athletic and academic experience.  I asked Coach Stange how a player wanting to be recruited would get his attention and Coach Stange gives you insight to how he looks at a player's video and how a high school coach's and a club coach's style and input lends weight to a recruit.  Listen in to gain recruiting advice for not only basketball, but for any sport you are interested in.

This episode, Episode 354 of The Athletic Scholarship Podcast, dives into how AI, Artificial Intelligence can help you in your recruitment.  I downloaded an inexpensive AI App and asked, What is the best way to get recruited by any college coach?  It was interesting to watch the AI App spit out it's steps to effectively get recruited.  Well, the steps were not Ask AI's orginal thoughts.  The steps to get recruited were gathered as the Ask AI App scanned the internet and accumulated the best practices from 1000s of sites.  Since Recruit Me and The Athletic Scholarship Podcast are 2 the longest running recruiting education resources out there, I was proud to know that Ask AI mirrored the Recruit Me 7 Steps to an Athletic Scholarship very closely.

Listen in to hear the steps that Ask AI, Recruit Me, Keep Playing Baseball, NCSA and IvyWise all give you as free and inexpensive resources for recruiting.

Inspiration can come from anywhere.  I saw a tweet that had a clip of an interview with the host, Ed Mylett, interviewing Sean Casey, a former MLB player and now a host on the MLB Network.  You can find The Ed Mylett Show on your favorite podcast app or on YouTube.  The 1 hour and 6 minute interview is named How to Overcome Rejection & Failure and WIN! w/ Sean Casey & Ed Mylett.  What attracted me to this interview was that @TJHannam10 highlighted a line from the interview that stated "I want to play college baseball, Dad", "They're not coming, Sean..GO ON OFFENSE".  The mention of wanting to play college baseball caught my recruiting eye and when I listened to the first 20-30 minutes of the interview it told a very relatable story for many, many student-athletes in not only baseball, but in any recruiting situation.  This interview gives you, not only recruiting lessons, but life lessons and inspiration.  The shownotes below have a link to the Ed Mylett/Sean Casey interview.  Also, click on the FREE Recruiting Power Pack link and the Recruit-Me.com link to get more free and inexpensive recruiting resources.

The Transfer Portal has been a big change in college athletics.  In the past, a college student-athlete wanted to move from 1 four-year NCAA college to another four-year NCAA college, then that student-athlete would have to sit out 1 year of competitive play before they were eligible to play for the new college.  Now, under a few rules, a college student-athlete can transfer 1 time without having to sit out a year.  On this episode, Episode 348 of The Athletic Scholarship Podcast, you get the history of the Transfer Portal, how it works today, how it effects high school, junior college and even other college student-athletes in the recruiting world.

Welcome to The Athletic Scholarship Podcast.  One of the goals of Recruit Me is to provide as many free and inexpensive recruiting resources to you, the student-athlete or the parents.  Recruit Me wants to save you not only money, but also reduce the time spend and the anxiety you feel.  One of the opportunities I have as a recruiting educator is that I do research to find helpful tools for you.  I can across the Baseball Bluebook on social media and it caught my eye when I saw that the owner is from the Springfield, MO area, which is where I am located.  As I looked through the Baseball Bluebook's social media I found the website, BaseballBluebook.com and there new app.  The new app for Baseball Bluebook is a great, free resource for baseball recruits.  The app can help in any sport though, as it can help you to find colleges by city, by state and by level of play.  When you find a college you can get a link to the school's athletic website, thus helping on baseball or any other sport the college has.
